Bluestar Energy Capital Appoints Ben Pratt as CEO of its US Renewables Development Platform, Nova Clean Energy

Bluestar continues expanding global project pipeline and leadership team following US $100 million capital raise

CHICAGO – June 27, 2023 – Bluestar Energy Capital (‘Bluestar’ or ‘the Company’) today announced the appointment of Ben Pratt as CEO of its United States renewable development platform, Nova Clean Energy. Ben brings over 25 years of leadership experience in all facets of the U.S. and global power industry and has served in executive positions for leading private and public companies across the wind and solar power sectors. He will be based in Nova Clean Energy’s Chicago headquarters.

“Ben’s deep understanding of U.S. energy markets and proven leadership capability make him an ideal fit as CEO of Nova Clean Energy as we continue to execute our ambitious business plan,” commented Bluestar Energy Capital Founder and CEO Declan Flanagan. “Our fast-growing portfolio of wind, solar, and storage projects across MISO, WECC, and ERCOT is a testament to great work by the Nova development team in the first year of the business, so the timing is perfect to bring in an executive of Ben's experience as we continue to execute our greenfield development strategy as well as selective M&A activity.”

“With a great team and many interesting projects under development, I am very excited to take on the challenge of making Nova Clean Energy one of the leaders of the next phase in the energy transition in the U.S.,” commented Pratt. “It’s particularly important that Nova is backed by shareholders who take a long-term view of the market. Higher interest rates and challenged project schedules will test many developers in the next few years but can also present opportunities for a player like Nova.”

Pratt previously held various commercial roles as a Senior Vice President at Ørsted and, before that, at Uniper Global Commodities and Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy. Ben is a former American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) board member.

Since announcing the completion of its $100 million initial fundraising from S2G Ventures and Great Bay Renewables in 2022, Bluestar has been successfully scaling its global presence. The company now has offices in Chicago, Austin, Dublin, and Sydney.
